Parents Hold Fake Gender Reveal For New Adopted Daughter
Gender reveals have only become a thing in the past few years, and not everyone is in support of them. There have been a number of incidents where a couple has attempted to creatively reveal the gender of their unborn baby, but it led to injuries or dangerous incidents.
After the couple in Northern California started a forest fire, the general consensus seems to be that you should keep your reveals lowkey. This couple in Canada, though, had one reveal that everyone can get behind.
The Traditional Reveal
Okay, so just in case you don't know what a gender reveal is, here's the lowdown: the point of a gender reveal is for a couple or mother to throw a party where they reveal the gender of their unborn baby.
The most common route is a cake or cupcake or some sort of dessert with either pink or blue on the inside, or you can rachet up the celebrations to something much bigger.
All Gender Reveals Are Canceled Except This One
While the internet may have canceled gender reveals after the one that started a forest fire, everyone on TikTok agreed that this one can stay.
A couple in Manitoba, Canada, posted a quick video to mom Charlette Fontaine's TikTok account in the first week of March, and now it has over 1 million views.
Not Your Typical Celebration
While a gender reveal party might be a common occurrence now, this couple did something a little different.
Their party was to reveal the gender of the 12-year-old daughter they were adopting!
Waiting For This Moment For Years
Charlette and her husband are foster parents who had been taking care of the tween girl on a foster-basis before they decided to pull the trigger.
Their adoption decision came after the young girl had spent 1,240 days—nearly 3.5 years—in foster care.
There Was A Subtle Theme, Too
The overall theme of this gender reveal was excitement and delight, but there was also a more subtle Harry Potter theme happening, too.
Mom and dad are wearing shirts that say "She's A Keeper" and "She's A Catch," respectively, while their daughter's shirt says "The Chosen One."
The Public Approves
Even though people on the internet can be the worst, this was a time where everyone could agree that it was a wonderful thing for these parents to do.
There's no doubt that this girl will be happy and loved as a member of this family.
A Moment They'll Never Forget
It's no secret that the older children are when they enter the foster system, the harder it can be for them to get adopted.
For Charlette and her husband, though, they knew that this girl was meant to be part of their family, and they wanted to celebrate the right way! Who says you have to be pregnant in order to throw a gender reveal party?
