Mom On TikTok Outrages Followers By Claiming She Has A Favorite Child
If you grew up with siblings, you know that competing for your parent's attention is a real thing. But if you're lucky, you always know that your parents love each and every one of you, and you're never guessing if your parents have a favorite. It's like an unwritten rule, an unmentionable. No parent is supposed to have a favorite.
There Is A Trend Going On Around TikTok
The trend is telling your viewers something without really telling them something. It started with the theme of "tell me you're rich without actually telling me you're rich."
It obviously took off, because who doesn't want to see how the better half lives?
But, As With Every Trend, There Was Someone Who Took It A Little Bit Too Far
There was a woman, Olivia Smith, who took the "tell me" trend and made it into something that it really shouldn't have been.
She posted the video saying, "Tell me you have a favorite child without telling me you have a favorite child."
The Video Has Over 1.8 Million Views
It also has over 2,000 comments, and as I'm sure you can imagine, they're very mixed reactions.
There are some people who laughed and made jokes about their own kids, and some people who said that it wasn't funny, and certainly not something they should joke about in front of their actual child.
Some Were Saying It Wasn't Funny
There were people in the comments sharing stories about their parents playing favorites and how painful that was for them.
If you grew up in a situation where the parents were actually playing favorites, it isn't hard to see how this could be harmful.
Others Saw The Humor
Then, there were others who thought that the joke was fine and that anyone who is a parent likely knows this kind of joke is harmless and they, in fact, do it often.
After all, isn't "whichever child isn't currently in crisis" every parent's favorite?
Olivia Smith Responded To All These Comments With Another Video
In the video, she goes up to each one of her three children and asks, "who's my favorite?"
Each child in the video says that they're their mom's favorite for various different reasons.
It's Clear In The Video That All The Kids Are Loved
In the end, it seems clear that the kids are loved and living a happy life.
They're all goofy the way you want your kids to be with you, and they all think they're the favorite.
But, It's A Thing That People Found Trigging
Even though Smith's kids seem very loved and happy, and the video likely was a joke, that doesn't change that it's something that actually happens and that people find very difficult to struggle with.
What do you think, is this something people should joke about?
