Mom On TikTok Outrages Followers By Claiming She Has A Favorite Child

If you grew up with siblings, you know that competing for your parent's attention is a real thing. But if you're lucky, you always know that your parents love each and every one of you, and you're never guessing if your parents have a favorite. It's like an unwritten rule, an unmentionable. No parent is supposed to have a favorite.

There Is A Trend Going On Around TikTok

The trend is telling your viewers something without really telling them something. It started with the theme of "tell me you're rich without actually telling me you're rich."

It obviously took off, because who doesn't want to see how the better half lives?

But, As With Every Trend, There Was Someone Who Took It A Little Bit Too Far

There was a woman, Olivia Smith, who took the "tell me" trend and made it into something that it really shouldn't have been.

She posted the video saying, "Tell me you have a favorite child without telling me you have a favorite child."

It also has over 2,000 comments, and as I'm sure you can imagine, they're very mixed reactions.

There are some people who laughed and made jokes about their own kids, and some people who said that it wasn't funny, and certainly not something they should joke about in front of their actual child.

Comments in a TikTok comment section. First comment: As someone who was definitely not the favorite and was told that without being told that, this is so hurtful to your other kids. Second comment: My mom also makes lots of jokes about how I'm not the favorite / my brother is the favorite. I never laugh because we both know there's truth behind it. Third comment: Ahhhh yes the old slapping

There were people in the comments sharing stories about their parents playing favorites and how painful that was for them.

If you grew up in a situation where the parents were actually playing favorites, it isn't hard to see how this could be harmful.

Tik Tok Comments: First comment: People are so sensitive, your kids are adorable they all seem to be your favorite Second comment: Literally never trust a mom who says they don't have a favorite. It may change a couple times a day but there's always a favorite. Third comment: I feel like everyone upset by this probably isn't a parent.

Then, there were others who thought that the joke was fine and that anyone who is a parent likely knows this kind of joke is harmless and they, in fact, do it often.

After all, isn't "whichever child isn't currently in crisis" every parent's favorite?

But, It's A Thing That People Found Trigging

Even though Smith's kids seem very loved and happy, and the video likely was a joke, that doesn't change that it's something that actually happens and that people find very difficult to struggle with.

What do you think, is this something people should joke about?
