Mom Gets Shaded For Throwing Out Her Kids’ Toys When They Refuse To Clean Them
We all have our own ways of dealing with our kids. TikTok user @tabathamarie is just learning the best ways to parent like the rest of us. When she asked her kid to clean his room, he refused.
So, she shared a video in which she showcased how she dealt with her messy son. However, not everyone was on board with her parenting style.
A Mother Was Trying To Get Her Child To Clean His Room
A mother used TikTok to explain how she handles when her son refuses to clean his room. She prefaces the clip by warning that she hated seeing the look on his face when he saw his room at the end.
"It hurt me just as much but my babies will not be disrespectful."
He Told Her She Should Do It Instead
She asked her son to clean his room for two days in a row, trying to be patient.
Instead of doing it, his response was "no you clean it, mommy." This came off as a sign of disrespect to his mother.
So She "Gladly" Did
The mom went through his room to showcase the mess. She showed piles of toys that didn't even have a path to walk through.
She finally said "okay, I will gladly do it" and collected it all in big white trash bags.
She Wanted To Teach Him A Lesson
The mom said that she was not happy with the response from her son, but she found a good opportunity to teach him a lesson.
"Mom is not raising no disrespectful men." It is not a mommy's job or woman's job to do anything."
She Didn't Actually Throw Them Out
The mom clarified in the comments that she was putting the toys in the basement, not actually throwing them away. Her son would be able to earn them back as he learns his lesson.
He was due to get his train set the next day.
She Wants Her Child To Learn To Help
"You make the mess clean it up. You see mama struggling help her."
She also wanted it to be a bigger lesson in learning how to treat women. In general, she says: "Don't sit there and let a woman struggle period. My babies will learn this quickly."
Some TikTok Users Applauded The Mother's Parenting
Some TikTok users said that though the mom gave a good lesson because kids need to learn that respect needs to be extended to everyone, even their parents.
One pointed out that "people who don't agree also have the kids that disrespect their parents."
Some Found It Was A Good Lesson In Learning To Live With Little Ones
The video showed a room full of toys. Some users thought it was a double win for the kid to lose his toys and learn the value of privilege.
Someone said that "they don't need so much stuff" anyway.
However Others Shaded Her
Naturally, others didn't find her parenting style to be suitable. Some found that judging by the toys in the room, the kid wasn't likely to clean it all up on his own.
One parent didn't think a child should clean by themselves until the age of 8, but can start learning in sections.
The Mom Eventually Clapped Back
To shut down all her critics, the mom finally answered back. She explained that he "rides a dirt bike on his own."
She says that if he can do that, then he can also clean his room. If he doesn't, there need to be consequences.
Mom Embarrasses Preteen Daughter At Sleepover By Sharing She's A Bedwetter
"AITA for telling my daughter's friend's mom that my daughter has a bedwetting problem?"
Well, that certainly seems like it's going to be an interesting story. Let's find out what went down, and why this woman's daughter claims she's a "horrible person."
Bedwetting Has Been A "Life Long" Problem
According to this mom's post, her 11-year-old daughter has had a bedwetting problem for her whole life.
It's gotten better in the last year and has become less frequent. It now happens usually once or twice a week, rather than every night.
She Wears Protection, Just In Case
Though it's gotten better, her daughter still wears protection every night so that if and when it does happen, she's covered.
This is an important fact for this story, but we'll come back to that.
Sleepover Solutions Are Needed
Her daughter was invited to her best friend's birthday party recently, which happened to be a sleepover.
Since bed-wetting would be a potential issue at the sleepover, mom tried to come up with a solution. She offered to pick her daughter up really late after the other girls had gone to bed so she could sleep at home, but her daughter "insisted" on sleeping over.
How Is She Going To Make It Through The Night?
Curious about how her daughter was going to manage, she asked: "how she planned on putting on protection without embarrassing herself."
Her daughter said she wouldn't need any protection because she was confident she could hold it and that she'd be careful. Her mom, however, argued there was no way she could guarantee that and after much debate, the daughter agreed to at least wear protection.
Now Here Is Where She Might Have Messed Up
Though her daughter had already agreed that she would wear protection at the sleepover, mom decided to take it a step further.
Without telling her daughter, she texted the mom of the girl having the sleepover and "gently" explained the situation, and encouraged her to "very discretely check-in" on her daughter so that she was comfortable at the sleepover.
Pick Up The Next Morning Didn't Go Smoothly
When she picked her daughter up the next morning, she was faced with a very unhappy daughter.
Her daughter "screamed" at her, asking how her mother could embarrass her like that. The 11-year-old said her mother was a horrible person to tell her bedwetting secret.
Now She Won't Speak To Her
After arriving at their house, her daughter ran upstairs to her room and slammed the door.
She hadn't come out since getting home, which is when mom decided to ask Reddit what they thought of the situation.
Explaining Her Rationale
In mom's mind, she feels that it's better for her daughter to be slightly embarrassed now than to have had something bad happen.
"For the short term, I believe I saved my daughter from the embarrassment of being labeled as 'the girl who peed the bed' for years to come."
"AITA for telling the other mom?"
In the comments, mom also clarified that she spoke to the other mom after the incident and she said there was absolutely no way the other girls overheard her, and that she was very discreet about it.
The comments were divided on their ruling.
It's A Tie Between AH Or NTA
Everyone agreed that mom had the right intentions for telling the other mom, but the final ruling seemed to be split in the comments.
For anyone who felt that mom was in the wrong, the main point they made was that she should have told her daughter that she'd be informing the other mother.
The Daughter May Be Thankful In The Future
Eventually, her daughter is going to get over it, and she might even see that her mom possibly saved her from a much bigger embarrassment in the long run.
Everything seems like a big deal when you're 11.
