“I’ve Been Up Since 5AM” Mom Films Her Exhausted Teen After A Day Of School And Work
Most people remember their first job well. For many of us, it started at a fast food restaurant in high school. It might not have paid much but you were taking responsibility and initiative by getting a job so young.
So, it's not surprising how many people can relate to this viral TikTok video of a high schooler who just got home from work.
A Hard Working Kid
Kimberly, who goes by @she_is_like_texas on TikTok, posted a video of her daughter coming home from work. To the mom's surprise, the video went viral with over 2 million views.
She captioned the clip "She is my hard-working kid."
Her Daughter Is Worn Out
In the video is Kimberly's daughter, who looks worn out after a long day.
She is wearing a Whataburger shirt, her backpack, and a visor with a hairnet stuck to it. In her hands are a change of clothes from school and some food she brought home after her shift.
"How Was Work?"
"Bethany, what happened at work? Why is there a hairnet there? Was it that bad?" Kimberly asks her daughter.
Bethany looks up confused at the hairnet that's attached to her visor and appears exhausted.
"I've Been Up Since 5:30..."
Bethany, looking tired and disheveled, responds to her mom with,
"I don't know; I've been up too early— I've been up since like 5:30 a.m. - it's 10:00 p.m."

The thing about working while you're in high school is that you don't want work to get in the way of not only your grades; but also your social life, doing extracurriculars, and probably chores at home.
