Dad Says Mom’s A Jerk For Asking Him To Stop Gaming And Care For His Baby
The first few months of having a baby are some of the hardest. The baby requires attention at all times and it can be tiring and overwhelming. For that reason, it's important for both parents to be able to get small breaks and recharge doing what they enjoy, like gaming. However, where do you draw the line to keep it fair for both parents?
The Couple Were Parents To A Nine-Month-Old
The couple was still getting the hang of being parents to their nine-month-old baby. The baby had just started teething and was being a little extra fussy lately.
The mom was naturally the one to breastfed and nursed the baby to sleep and understood her husband couldn't help with that part.
The Dad Was Playing Video Games Loudly
While the mom finally got her baby to sleep, her husband was playing an online game with voice.
"I told him he needed to be more quiet because if he woke her up, he was taking care of her until she was ready to go back to sleep." The mom explained that it takes the baby an hour or so before she can go back to sleep if she's woken up.
He Argued He Wasn't Being That Loud
The dad was simply using his speaking voice, so he didn't think he was being that loud. The mom was noticing that this was still enough to get the baby stirring and squirming.
It didn't help that the mom's rocking chair is positioning right beside the gaming station in the living room.
The Baby Did Wake Up
The dad promised he'd try to be quieter. That shouldn't have been a problem if his headset was high-end enough to pick up his voice easily.
The problem was that he kept forgetting to lower his voice anyway. Then what she feared happened, and the baby woke up.
The Mom Still Waited For Him To Finish His Mission
Once the mom realized that the baby had woken up, she picked it up and sat in the rocking chair. She waited for her husband to finish his mission.
As soon as he was done, she handed him the baby and went into the bedroom so she could play a game herself.
Dad Accused Mom Of Being A Jerk
"He's mad and says I'm being a jerk because he wasn't being overly loud and he wanted to get further in the game. But I warned him. When she's having a fussy night, we have to work around her."
The mom's intention wasn't to prevent her husband from enjoying his games, but she didn't think it was fair to have to put the baby to sleep twice.
The Internet Agreed The Kid Should Come First
The internet agreed that the dad needs to take full responsibility for his baby. They pointed out that a baby is a full-time job.
One even commented: "He needs to grow up. Kids come first. He needs to work his hobbies around that fact."
Some Pointed Out That Men Forget That It Takes Two
Someone suggested that men tend to forget it takes two to make a baby. They don't always know how to care for them.
While parents still need to have something to enjoy, dads also need to know when it's time to step up and take responsibility. Especially when he was the one to wake her up.
Mom Blames It On Their Tiny Appartment
Thankfully, the baby fell back asleep. The mom nursed her and rocked her. The husband also apologized for his behavior.
The mom doesn't entirely blame him, though. She finds their apartment to be too tiny, which gives the family little room to breathe. They hope to move into a bigger place eventually.
They Even Got To Play Together In The End
Clearly, this mom enjoys playing video games just as much as her hubby. It's what she went to do when she handed the baby over. Since she's the only one who can nurse the baby to sleep, it's only fair that they take turns between putting the baby back to sleep and enjoying their games.
In this case, in the end, they made up and got to play one of the games they like to play together. Hopefully, this was a learning opportunity for them.
