Some of my best memories as a kid are going to my friend's house in the summer to swim in his family's outdoor pool. Pools promise endless summer fun, but proper safety is incredibly important for those who use a backyard pool.

According to a viral social media PSA, even swimsuit color is important to keep our children safe.

Although a pool is a great addition to a backyard, it also comes with a lot of responsibility, especially if you have small children.

Sadly, drowning is the number one cause of death in children under five, and it is important to be aware of the many safety issues that arise when swimming, even when it comes to swimsuit color.

The PSA claims that parents should avoid blue, dark, or dull colors for kids' swimwear at all costs.

Who would have thought that wearing a brighter color swimsuit when in the pool is safer for your child as opposed to wearing a darker color? The reason why actually makes a lot of sense.

At a pool party, a CPR Educator asked one of the children who was wearing a pale blue swimsuit to swim to the bottom. The result shocked everyone who was present because you can't see anything.

Within their post, CPR Kids claimed that the water of the pool in the post had become kind of cloudy after people were playing in it all day long. Cosmetics, hair and skin lotions and deodorants all contribute to cloudy pool water, among other factors.

Cloudy pool water can make it really, really hard to see people underwater. So, if you're having a pool party anytime soon, make sure you always have a lifeguard or an adult on deck to count heads.

She's right, as boy's swimwear is typically way darker than females, and it can be hard to find a good-fitting, bright pair of swim trunks.
