Yoga For Dads Is Finally Here And It Includes Beer And Cursing
Let's face it, being a dad is stressful. You have to keep your cool around your kids all day even when they "accidentally" use your best dress shirt as an art canvas and then feed it to the dog. The last thing you want to do after a stressful day is attempt to bend, fold, and try to find you zen for an hour-long yoga class.
Introducing: Rage Yoga. The yoga for everyone who isn't as flexible and level-headed as they used to be (parenting will do that). Now, you can find your inner peace by raging out and drinking beer. If you're like me and need to release some steam, then this is going to be your new favorite workout.
Curse Out All Your Inner Anger
Rage Yoga is the genius yoga class brought to us by Ashley Duzich Wellness. Duzich started the class after her regular yoga wasn't doing the trick. One of the first things she wanted was to give people a safe space to drop an F-bomb (or two...or three...or four).
So yep, swearing isn't just tolerated — it's encouraged. Whether you yell it out loud and proud or mutter it under your breath, swear as much as you want in this class.
Throw Fireballs Of Rage
Duzich does incorporate some traditional yoga moves into the class but don't you worry, any beginner with a stiff back can still do them. One position includes throwing a fireball of rage. When you're deep in the lunge Duzich encourages you to release and yell anything bothering you and according to the instructor, it can be pretty funny.
She's heard people yell everything from "I told you to do the dishes!" to "Who left the fridge door open?" I think we can all relate.
Take A Break And Drink Beer
The best part of Rage Yoga? The frequent beer breaks. Duzich said that not only will they go out for a drink after the class, but they take breaks during it to unwind and toss a cold one back. If you don't drink, don't worry, there's no judgment in Rage Yoga.
Duzich also makes it clear that there are no kids allowed. It's not that she doesn't like kids (we all love our children, right?) but she knows that parents won't relax fully if they have to keep an eye on them.
Dad-Joke Your Way To A Stress-Free Life
So, seriously, what's not to love about Rage Yoga? Duzich is based out of Houston, Texas, but a ton of other yoga studios have been picking up the class so you can probably find one close to you.
It's the perfect excuse to get away and take some time to yourself. Plus, your wife will probably love that you're finally taking up yoga like she's been nagging you to do for years. Little does she know that this yoga isn't your typical ultra-zen class.
