Times Kids Did Not Accurately Describe What Their Parents Did For Work
There are a few key facts that every parent teaches their children when they're young, like what their phone number is or not to talk to strangers.
Then there are the things that parents try to teach their children, like, for instance, what they do for work. Just because you try to teach them what Dad does for work, though, does not mean that they will repeat the accurate description. These parents learned that the hard way!
Clearly, This Child Is Quite The Little Judge
This child clearly got the judgmental gene from her mother based on all the shade she's throwing around here. She probably recycles those papers or sends emails or something too.
That's Part Of The Job
How do we sign up for a job where we can just yell at people for a living? That seems like it would be a great stress reducer, at least for the person doing the yelling.
Important Clarification
Now, this is a comment that is definitely going to warrant a phone call home, or maybe a parent-teacher conference so everyone can be on the same page about what mommy does for a living.
No Need To Be Alarmed
Imagine if you were a teacher and you overheard a child in class telling other kids that their dad plays with dead people for a living... Do you address it, or pretend it never happened?
How Victorian Of You
It seems like someone has been watching a little bit too much Downton Abbey if they're walking around telling people that their mother is a scullery maid for a living.
He Should Come To Career Day
This sounds like they were going around telling people that their dad was Walter White from Breaking Bad or some sort of villain in a movie. The kids must have been afraid of his dad.
Accept The Cooler Job
While other parents got knocked down by their child's description of their job, this woman ends up looking like a much cooler aunt thanks to her nephew's summary. Roll with it and aspire to it!
Two Phones Seems Questionable
Part of "managing" his properties could be needing to take care of clients or customers who refuse to pay up. However, that isn't a part of the job that his son needs to know about.
If The Trick Works...
So, basically, this daughter was right. You're lying if you say that any manager who buys donuts for their employees doesn't do it to boost morale and motivate them to work harder.
You Can Get Paid For That?
The problem with children is they're going to latch onto either the most recent fact they've been told, or the last thing they saw. Dad eats popcorn for a living because he saw him doing it, and that's the end of the discussion.
I Wish Someone Came To The Door Selling Lasagna
It feels like there could be a very lucrative career for someone going door to door selling lasagna if they timed it perfectly for when parents are having that "what should we make for dinner?" conversation.
The Only Fact She Remembers
I like the idea that this man is teaching his daughter that you truly can have any career you want if you work hard enough, but we still have a lot of questions.
Painting Just Got A Whole Lot More Complicated
Usually, if someone were to tell me that they paint houses for a living, I wouldn't immediately jump to the conclusion that they're secretly a "murder for hire" type of contractor, but okay.
Close Enough
Considering that most adults probably don't even know what a phlebotomist is, or how to spell it properly, we can't fault a child for simply going with the next closest word they could think of. At least they didn't tell people their mom looked like a hippopotamus.
Crosswords Can Be Hard Work
Even grandfathers aren't safe from their grandkids throwing shade at them about their careers! Obviously, Grandpa must do more things in his day-to-day as an attorney than just crossword puzzles...though, we can't name any of those things at this time.
This Is Why Parents Should Proofread Assignments
It would be a nice surprise for a parent to hear that their child had chosen to write about them for a school assignment, but upon further investigation, this mom has a lot of explaining to do.
A Man Who Deals With The Mail
If she had been going around saying that her dad was a mailman, it would've been hard to explain to her that she was technically wrong, because she was also technically right.
Important People Doing Important Things
To this day, this person still isn't entirely sure what their mother does, but we're assuming that whatever is spoken about in those emails and phone calls is important enough.
Keep Dreaming, Kid
So this kid decided to throw all honesty to the wind and simply make up his own explanation for his dad... Or he has some truly terrible listening skills and really believes this is his dad's job.
No, He Was Not A Model
It turns out that his dad actually worked shift work at a local car factory, so he would change clothes when he came from work. It seems far less exciting than "looking pretty" for a living.
That's As Good As It'll Get
Realistically, there are very few 4-year-olds in the world who can confidently say what their parents do for a living unless it's something like "teacher" or "firefighter." Take what you can get.
She's Not Wrong
It would probably be helpful to clarify to the teacher that she walks into strangers' homes when she's invited. She's not a criminal who frequently breaks into people's houses while they're not home.
Minor Detail
You could tell your child that you're the CEO of Popeyes or that you're the dishwasher, he's still going to choose his own story to tell people and be equally as proud of you.
Coloring Is Just A Perk
Who wouldn't want to pursue a job where they get to color all day long? Maybe that's how we can start inspiring more children to become engineers: bait them with something they loved doing as a child.
What An Interesting Description
In some ways, this might be the easiest way to explain what a politician does to a group of children, even if Dad may not be thrilled about that description.
You're Your Daughter's Maid
Any stay-at-home mother will tell you that they are basically treated like a maid by their children anyway. Realistically, any parent regardless of their career could probably relate to this.
Put Some Respect On Your Mom's Name
It's almost like their mom wasn't actually working when her child came to visit because she was busy taking care of her child... It's hard to get any work done with a tiny human milling about.
It's Not That Far Off Base
It might not be the exact job that he does, but there's probably someone at the company he works for who is responsible for searching in the ground to acquire the petroleum.
They're Such A Joy
If you ever feel like you're getting a little too full of yourself, have a conversation with one of your children—or really any child— and they'll be sure to knock you down a few pegs.
