Man Shares Story Of Random Guy Being Added To His Family Chat Instead Of His Actual Dad
At first, you think we've all been there. We've all sent the wrong text or email to the wrong person and felt our hearts drop. Then, we immediately frantically apologized and forwarded the message.
Then you realize that this man sent messages to the wrong person for a whole six months, with his whole family in the group chat.
Imagine Spying On Someone's Group Chat For SIX MONTHS Unnoticed
We have so many questions here, and we're guessing you do too. You're probably wondering how no one noticed that Dad wasn't partaking in the conversation at all, and yet no one asked or got worried.
Plus, if you didn't know about Whatsapp, the app lets you check when someone's read your messages.
In His Defense, The Family Was Going Through A Divorce
First, let's establish the why. The family didn't communicate well due to an unfortunate divorce, so the messages going back and forth probably weren't that frequent.
However, this chat was Jonno's solution to fixing that, and he was excited about it. Maybe a little too excited...
He Somehow Had Added "Peter" Instead Of "Dad"
Now we cover the how. Somehow, in the middle of his excitement when he first started the group, Jonno didn't actually check whose numbers he was adding.
His dad was named Peter, so instead of adding "Dad" to the group, he added "Peter," and it just happened to be the wrong Peter.
He's Lucky He Even Noticed When He Did
Since both contacts shared the same name, no one even noticed that some random guy was part of the group chat for months. In fact, this could have gone forever, and apparently, no one would have wondered why Dad wasn't partaking.
Thank goodness, Jonno's sister finally, six months later, wondered if the real dad could join the chat. That's when Jonno finally realized his mistake.
If You're Wondering Who Fake Peter Really Is....
The next question on your mind if it's like ours must be, "Well then, who was fake Peter even to begin with?" It turns out that Peter was just a plumber who came to repair the washing machine once seven whole years ago.
Although this doesn't explain why fake Peter wouldn't have just said something or exited the chat.
There's Proof He Didn't Just Ignore The Messages
You'd think he'd say something after a while along the lines of "I don't think you meant to add me," but no—he just kept reading. The receipts don't lie.
Yet apparently, fake Peter is also the kind of person who came to fix their washing machine but ended up bleaching all of the clothes that were trapped in the drum. Fake Peter clearly owes the family.
Maybe Fake Peter Just Wanted To Be The Father They've Always Wanted
Jonno has a theory that maybe fake Peter didn't have ill intentions and he just didn't want to disturb the family.
Maybe he was even hoping he could fill the role of the father that they were missing. Or maybe, he just didn't realize till it was too late so he went with it.
The Internet Had So Many Questions
Other questions included "What happened to fake Peter?" Jonno said that in his panic he kicked him out of the group. Since he really messed up their favorite clothes all those years ago, he didn't bother to get in touch with him.
Some people were in so much disbelief they even questioned Jonno if this story was real. He said he wouldn't have been imaginative enough to make it up, and again, the receipts don't lie!
Don't Worry, Real Dad Peter Is Back In The Right Place
Although we're all wondering what Dad had to say after six months of thinking he was excluded from the group chat. We want those receipts too!
But we're also just happy the family gets their dad back. This might give them the chance they needed to share a laugh, bond over this incident, and reconnect with one another.
Everyone's Now Rooting For Their Family
It definitely helps to put a face to the name. It also makes it all the more heartbreaking to know that they're going through a divorce.
The internet basically now wishes nothing but happiness for them and hopes they can keep the smiles and love they had in this picture.
