Dad-To-Be Wears A Watermelon Around To Understand His Wife’s Pregnancy Struggles
Being pregnant is no easy task. It literally feels like carrying a watermelon, except you can't take the strap off and take a break before the baby is born. It almost seems unfair that dads get to sit there and relax during those nine months while the moms literally carry all the weight.
For that reason, TikTok user cheyennefissori decided to give her husband a taste of what she's been experiencing.
Being Pregnant Is A Struggle And A Half
Men really don't understand how inconvenient, painful, and tiring it can be to have a bump constantly in front of you during pregnancy.
So, Cheyenne wanted her husband to feel her daily struggle. To give him an experience that was as close as possible to being nine months pregnant, she strapped a watermelon to him.
The Husband Went In Smiling
The husband didn't seem to mind, which frankly is the least he can do. He got to take the watermelon off at the end of the experiment.
However, Cheyenne was stuck with it 'til whenever the baby decided to grace the world with its presence.
First Up Was Putting On Shoes
The thing about shoes is that there isn't one of them, but two. That's double the effort, especially when you can't even see the top of your feet.
Pregnant women can barely bend, so this is a seated activity based on guessing where your foot is and slipping it in a comfortable shoe.
Then He Tried To Get In Bed
Lying in bed might be the most comfortable position for a pregnant woman, but getting in bed is a whole other story.
The husband struggled to figure out how to lie down comfortably as well. It seemed like lying on his back was the only option.
Next Is Getting Out Of Bed
Getting in bed is only half the struggle—getting out is equally, if not more, difficult.
It's like the weight of the watermelon (or baby) is constantly pulling you back and you're fighting gravity to stand up.
Picking Things Up Is No Easy Task
It's practically impossible to bend over when there's a huge bump in the way. That means that you can only go so far to get over it.
Plus, just like the shoes, you can't actually see underneath the bump, so good luck finding what you're trying to pick up on the first try.
It Was A Successful Experiement
It's fair to assume that Cheyenne's husband got a good taste of her daily struggles. He had a hard time within a couple of minutes.
The hope is that now he will be appreciative and supportive of the labor that his wife went through to give them the gift of life.
TikTokers Still Didn't Think This Was Enough
The issue with the watermelon is that it's strapped to the outside.
That means there's no way to make men understand the struggles that come from the inside, like the kicking and the punching.
What About Twins?
If one watermelon is the equivalent of one baby, then what about the women who have twins or triplets?
Even women who have had more than one child felt as though their husbands should strap on several watermelons to truly feel their pain. However, the consensus was that there's no way to actually make men feel the same way pregnant women do.
