Father-To-Be’s Disappointed Reaction To Gender Reveal Divides Internet
One of the biggest announcements that anyone can make in life is that they're about to have a baby. From baby showers to gender reveal parties, it's fun to get swept up in the excitement and share that joy with the expectant parents.
But one father has gone viral for the way he reacted to the news that he was having a baby girl, and the reaction has divided users on social media.
A Gender Reveal Party
The trend of "gender reveal" parties has caught on in recent years, and in addition to a traditional baby shower, many parents-to-be are also having parties to elaborately announce the sex of their unborn baby.
Surrounded by loved ones and playfully using pink/blue cake, balloons, confetti, or even smoke to make the announcement, these parties are a trend that show no sign of stopping anytime soon.

The divisive video has been viewed over 780,000 times and has received 11,000 likes and 2,200 comments.
It's A Girl!
The video begins with the father in question and his pregnant wife standing outside during their baby's gender reveal party, surrounded by family and friends.
The woman leans forward and pops the giant balloon, revealing smaller pink balloons that scatter about into the air (signifying a girl). The father shows his disappointment by appearing to utter the words, "Oh f**k!"
Clear Disappointment
After the initial balloon popping, the party erupts with pink confetti and party guests smiling, laughing, and clapping together in celebration. While the wife looks thrilled at the news and smiles at her young daughter whom she is holding, the same joy cannot be said for the husband.
Before the video ends, he is seen throwing the balloon string on the ground and briefly walking away, before appearing to curse again.
An Ungrateful Father
The video quickly went viral and polarized viewers. Most TikTok users showed disdain for his reaction to having a girl and said the only thing that should matter is that the baby is born healthy. Others said they hope his unborn daughter never watches this video.
"My father cried when I was born because I was a girl and that messed me up," one user commented. "You should be ashamed of yourself."
Coming To Dad's Defense
However, not all comments were critical of the dad's reaction. Multiple users said that there was no shame in him being disappointed and that it's perfectly okay to hope for a baby of a particular sex and then be disappointed if the baby ends up being the opposite.
"People are acting like he won't love his daughter," one user wrote.
